JUSTICE AND PRISON SENTENCING REFORMS

UPGRADE ALL EXISTING PRISONS IN AUSTRALIA TO SUPERMAX STANDARD, ABOLISH PAROLE AND MAKE MAXIMUM SENTENCES THE STANDARD AND FINALLY SCRAP MENTAL CHECKS AND INSANE PLEAS FOR CRIMINALS

TELEVISIONS ARE BEING BANNED IN PRISONS BECAUSE JUSTICE AND CORRECTIVE DEPARTMENTS CANNOT AFFORD TO UPGRADE TO DIGITAL TELEVISION ONCE AUSTRALIA SWITCHES TO DIGITAL TELEVISION IN 2013.

Following the outcry on people getting let off after committing serious crimes, I am calling for all governments of Australia to upgrade prisons to supermax standard to at least that of the Goulburn Supermax prisons and making sure that punishment that fits the crime is the focus rather than rehab.  It has been shown that rehab do not work and do not reduce crime.

Concurrent sentencing for multiple offences will be a thing of the past and be replaced by cumulative sentencing meaning that the criminal will have to serve a sentence for a different offence on top of the sentence for the 1st offence.   The 1st day of the prison sentence will take effect on the same day of the day of sentencing. Courts will still be able to put the criminals in prison during a court case but that time served in prison before sentencing will not be taken in account as time already served on the day when criminals are sentenced to prison.

The prison commissioner will have the power to impose a cumulative extra sentence bypassing the court for every time a criminal misbehave in prison or is found to be in breach of the prison rules.  Police will still have the power to charge criminals in prison suspected of other crimes and crimes committed in prison giving the court the power to impose an additional cumulative prison sentence on top of the existing prison sentence the criminal is serving.

Every prisoner should be subject to a 23 hour lockdown in their cells with 1 hour of exercise a day and all prisoners should be stuck with the routine for the entire sentence.  Also under the new reforms every prisoner will have their own cell, and they are to be the sole resident of the cell which will all be windowless with no natural light.  The cells each will feature a basin and a toilet and that is about it.  Criminals will not be supplied any televisions because the Correction and Justice departments cannot afford to upgrade to digital televisions in prison because of the huge expense of converting televisions in prisons to digital television format.

Also parole should be scrapped and that the maximum sentences be made the standard when sentencing criminals to prison.  The reason why parole should be scrapped is because parole is being used as an opportunity for criminals to reoffend, and that is the reason why courts are imposing softer prison sentences.

Under the reforms the lawyers will be banned from asking courts to order mental checks on criminals and that criminals will no longer be found not guilty due to mental illness and and criminals will not be able to plead insanity at all.  They will have to plead not guilty or guilty just like everybody else and even if the criminal do suffer from a mental illness he will be automatically sent to prison and not to hospital at all.

Criminals and their families will not be able to sue the prison or the government for any abuse that the criminal may suffer from prison guards because the government and prison staff are not liable for the welfare of criminals in prison.  It is all about punishment not rehab, and punishment is the key to reducing crime.  Prison visits by families visiting criminals will be limited to 1 hour a week starting from 12 noon and finishing at 1 pm every Sunday. In an event of the criminal falling ill or is injured he will receive treatment in his own prison cell and will not be treated in hospital. Prison guards and a prison doctor will treat the criminal in his own prison cell in times of illness and injury.

This is the sort of prison and sentencing reforms that the public has been crying out for years. The public is fed up with criminals receiving lenient prison sentences and despite the politicians claiming they are getting tougher on law and order there is still no evidence to back it up. Concurrent sentencing, parole and time already served when being sentenced is still taking place so how can they get tougher on criminals when there is no truth in sentencing without parole or any cumulative sentencing? The public is being conned all along when being told of the prison sentences by the courts and politicians.
