I CALL FOR SCHOOL HOLIDAY REFORM AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THE KIDS BEHAVIOUR AT CASURINSA SQUARE

It's no wonder that the standards of kids' behaviour is dropping really low of late. Frankly I believe that kids have it too easy and they have been given too many holidays. 4 weeks of school holidays between June and July is too long in my view.

What I'd like to see is big changes to the school holidays being allocated to kids. I want to see the Easter holidays shifted to Easter weekends with a 7 to 10 day maximum for Easter break, a 2 week break mid year and a 2 week break in September to October more in line with Queensland. The christmas break will not be affected by the reforms. The reforms mean that kids will have to attend school for one more week per year than the total weeks they have to serve per year at present. Just one week more at school per year won't make much of a difference.

I won't be popular with kids or their teachers or the kid's parents but i believe that school holidays is an area that is in badly need of reform.

ALSO THE CANE NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT BACK IN SCHOOLS

The number of explusions and suspensions are really starling. In my view suspensions and explusions does not serve as a deterrent. The kids who get suspended or expelled are more likely to end up in the justice system and eventually prison, and it can be more costly to taxpayers.

I believe that the cane in schools do act as a effective punishment and deterrent. Therefore the student's days are not lost due to suspension or explusion. If we can bring back the cane in schools it will set a higher standard of student behaviour and therefore students are less likely to end up in the justice system and prison and it will be much cheaper to the taxpayer eventually.

It's very easy to relate the low standards of behaviour displayed by the kids to the lack of the cane in schools.
