CRUSHING CARS IS THE BEST METHOD TO PREVENT FATAL CAR ACCIDENTS

THE NORTHERN TERRITORY GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONSIDER CRUSHING CARS FOR CONVICTED OFFENDING DRIVERS

I have looked on the internet with interest on South Australian proposed laws to crush the cars of hoons and have to say the proposal have merit.  I'm really impressed with the idea of forcing hoons to see their cars crushed.

Under the plan, anybody guilty of a driving offence will be forced to go to the site with a police officer and witness his car being crushed by a special machine in a industrial car dump site.  Failure to do so will result in a mandatory 2 year prison sentence.

Some people deserve freedom from prison, but that will only be confined to people convicted of driving offences and other minor crimes.  The driving offences includes speeding, drink driving and hooning.  But people convicted of driving offences will not escape harsh punishment despite being spared from prison except those causing death by dangerous driving.  Dangerous driving causing death will be treated as murder which carries a life without parole sentence in a supermax prison.

If I have my way anybody convicted of a driving offence will have their cars crushed even if it was their first offence.  People convicted of dangerous driving causing death will not only have the car crushed, but will have to pay $500 million in compensation to the victim's family as well as facing a murder charge that carries a mandatory life sentence without parole in a supermax prison.

Lastly if the owner is still paying off the purchase of the crushed car he still will be obliged and required to pay it off on top as being obliged to pay other expenses such as 3rd party insurance, insurance and paying for the crushing of his car.
